Water-based personal lubricants are water-soluble and are the most widely used personal lubricants. Personally I find that most water based lubes are not very long lasting in comparison to Hybrids or Silicone and you need to constantly apply especially if you're in for the long haul. They also can get quite sticky and lose that lovely smooth gliding feeling - The two brands pictured above. I would personally not recommend for the reasons just mentioned. I would only buy these brands if there was nothing else available and I really needed some lube desperately !!!
Silicone-based lubricants are usually formulated with fewer than four ingredients and do not contain any water. Silicone lubricants offer a different feel from water-based personal lubricants. Silicone-based lubricants are not absorbed by skin or mucus membranes, and consequently last longer than water-based lubricants. They usually are the most expensive out of the three types but worth the money as you don't need much to start off with and needing to reapply is nowhere near as often, also since it is not as sticky, you can really feel every part of your cock more! One of the better brands and one I personally use is pictured below - SWISS NAVY (a real winner and worth the price)
Hybrid lubes are usually a combination of water base and silicone, most of the time these can end up being just as pricey as Silicone lubes but still end up with the quality of a cheap water based lube. I've listed below 4 of the best ones and these are truly great and not just in a novel way.
